Developer: St. Joe (NYSE: JOE), a publicly held company based in Jacksonville, is Florida’s largest real estate operating company. It is engaged in town, resort, commercial, and industrial development, land sales and commercial real estate services. The company also has significant interests in timber.
Location: Located along Florida’s “Emerald Coast” approximately 1.5 hours from Panama City Beach, and built upon a spirit of relaxed refinement, the WaterSound Community is a collection of neighborhoods woven through a former pine plantation and framed by a network of ecologically rich wetlands. WaterSound is closely linked, both in character and in function, to the nearby community of WaterSound Beach. Rich in native understory vegetation such as live oaks, palmettos and indigenous grasses, along with marsh areas and pine stands, WaterSound’s abundant flora provides a dramatic landscape for this developing community.
The Origins Course: Plays as a six-hole regulation course, nine-hole executive course, ten-hole par-3 course between 1,600 and 1,800 yards. Conceptually, designed to encourage junior golfers, beginners and families to participate in the game of golf and remain engaged throughout their recreational lives. Consistent with the Scottish origins of the game, in which six, nine and 12-hole courses were commonplace. Golf made simple and fun, again, yet challenging enough to retain the interest of avid players.
